Nelson Rosario Gagne, age 84, of Guilford, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2007, in the West Haven Veteran's Hospital. He was born on June 30, 1923, in Woonsocket, RI, to the late Albert and Oida Piche Gagne. A long time Monroe resident, he moved to Milford before settling in Guilford. Nelson proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He was employed for many years as a machinist for Bridgeport Machine's. In his spare time, he enjoyed Bowling for Bridgeport Machines, belonging to Milford Senior Center and was an avid card player. Mr. Gagne is survived by his loving wife, of 61 years, Josephine “Joan” Stevens Gagne, devoted children Nelson James Gagne and John Rene Gagne both of Texas, Sandra Ann Dennis of Oregon, Marilyn Susan Joyce of Guilford and Joanne Louise Gagne of Branford, sisters Doris Chaco and Lillian Egan both of Connecticut, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Alphonse, Francis and Albert Gagne. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 10, 2007, from 2 to 5pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford.
