Paul David Smith Jr, “Dave”, AKA Sugar Bear, 70, of Orange, Connecticut, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, due to cancer. Dave was born in Bridgeport on April 25,1947, he was a member of the Golden Hill Paugussett indian tribe. He worked as a welder for Milford Crane for over 20 years until it closed. He then worked as a landscaper at Harborview Landscape for many years until he retired. Dave was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Vietnam. Dave will be joining his mother, Ethel Mabel Smith and his sister Belinda (Linda) Smith. He is survived by his father, Paul Smith Sr, his siblings, W. Joe Bailey, Kathleen (Tina) Smith-Bogan, Roger Smith (Bill Ravenscroft), Aaron Smith (Christina). As well as his 5 children, Stephanie Murray, Michelle Sutton (Reggie), Melanie Pisanelle (Marquis Deboise), Heather Rosen, and Paul Smith III. He is lovingly remembered by his 12 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Per Dave’s wishes there will only be calling hours which will be held on May 19, 2017 from 4pm – 8pm. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Smith Funeral Home in Milford, CT. A private burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to be used toward burial expenses and a “Celebration of Life” event in July. We would like to thank our family for being so supportive, in addition to the VA for all the care and comfort they provided to our loved one during our stay there.
