Raymond “Bud” F. Burrows, Jr, age 95, of Milford, beloved husband to Virginia “Ginger” Kelly Burrows, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 25, 1920, in Los Angeles, CA he was the son of the late Raymond F. Burrows, Sr. and Marion Gwatkin Burrows. While he lived in West Haven for 23 years, he was a graduate of West Haven High School in 1938, Bud also attended 1 year at Sanborn Seminary and the University of Connecticut. Proudly serving in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945, Bud served aboard the USS Ranger C, USS Essex CV9, and the USS Bennington CV20. He served in twelve battles aboard Essex and their crew was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. Before retiring, Bud worked as an office manager at Edgecomb Steel and more recently from Automatic Milk Vending. Bud also worked as a carpenter and built five houses and two of his own. Bud was an avid fan of the UConn Huskies and softball, never missing any of his children’s and grandchildren’s games. He was a member of the Milford Senior Center, the Milford Men’s Club, and the Senior Choral Group where he took part in several senior shows. Along with his wife Ginger of 61 years, Bud is survived by his dedicated son Brian Burrows and cherished grandchildren David, Amanda, and Michael Burrows, all of Milford. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sons Scott and Gary Burrows. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 4 to 7pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, July, 1st at 11:30am, officiated by Reverend Cynthia Knapp, at the Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow in King’s Highway Cemetery with full Military Honors.
