Richard Basque

Richard August Basque, age 81, of Milford for 60 years, passed away peacefully in Connecticut Hospice on Sunday, October 16, 2016. He was born on August 22, 1935 in Bridgeport to the late Donat and Gertrude Tesch Basque. Before retiring, he was employed with SNET as an engineer. A devoted husband for 60 years, he is survived by his wife Joan Blotney Basque, dedicated sons Richard Basque Jr. of Crayton, NH, Michael Basque (Lisa) and Ronald Basque (Cassandra) all of Milford and loving daughter Susan Lewis (Dan) of Trumbull, brothers John (Celia), Ken (Fay), Ted and David Basque, sisters Pat Basque and Jerry (Bob) Cirella, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Friday, October 21, 2016 from 5pm to 7pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford, CT. Friends and family are requested to meet directly at St Mary Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 22nd at 9am. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
