Richard Peck
Richard Corneilus Peck, age 76, of Milford, beloved husband of Mary Susan Ellwood Peck, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 in Milford Hospital. He was born on July 20, 1932 in New Haven to the late Wilbur Wade and Florence Gutman Peck. Mr. Peck attended UCONN and following college, joined his brother Robert at the family owned business began by his father, the Western Auto hardware store in downtown Milford. Mr. Peck sold the business in 1979. He then retired from Milford Boat Works in 1997. Mr. Peck was an active member of Arctic Engine Company 1 Volunteer Fire Company for over twenty five years, including serving as captain. He was a member of the Downtown Merchants Association, the Plymouth Men's Club, and St. Peter's Episcopal Church, serving on the vestry, as an usher and as a junior warden. Richard loved sailing, walking, airplanes of all varieties, and was an avid reader. He enjoyed attending the EAA Airventure convention each year in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He especially loved his eight grandchildren. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his three children, Caroline and her husband Richard Medley of Portsmouth, RI., Laura and her husband Greg Anderson of Madison, WI., and Christopher and his wife Karin Peck of Shelton, CT., two sisters Shirlee P. Ciccone of West Hartford, Beatrice P. Webster of Danville, CA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Robert W. Peck. The family will receive friends Wednesday April 22, 2009 from 5-8 pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. Funeral Service will be held Thursday at 11:00 am directly in St Peter's Episcopal Church 71 River St Milford 06460. Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, or The National Kidney Foundation 2139 Silas Deane Hwy Ste 208, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-2339.Obituary
