Robert Kapusta

Robert Kapusta, age 88, passed away on October 29, 2019. Bob was born in Derby CT on July 1, 1931, the only child of John S. and Josephine Kapusta. He graduated from Fairfield Prep, University of Connecticut and Georgetown Law School. He began his legal career as an Air Force JAG, stationed in Germany and later assigned to the Pentagon. While in Washington DC, he met and married Cathy Reidy Kapusta on February 18, 1956. After returning to Connecticut, Bob was a prosecuting attorney for the City of Ansonia and later became City Attorney for Milford. He went into private practice with Bill Bennett, and later on, Paul Otzel, practicing law for over 50 years in Milford. He dedicated his life to the improvement of Milford. He served as Legal Counsel to Milford Progress, Inc. (pro bono), Milford Redevelopment Agency and was Chairman of the Milford Economic Development Commission. He was Past President of the Milford Bar Association, Past President of Milford Progress, Inc., Past President of Milford Lions Club, Past President of the Milford Chamber of Commerce, and a Director at New Haven Legal Assistance Association. He was a recipient of the Lifetime of Achievement Award from the Milford Chamber of Commerce, received commendation from CT Bar Association in recognition of his pro bono work for Legal Aid, and received the CT Bar Association’s Hennessey Award for his integrity, competence and professionalism over the course of his career. Bob enjoyed playing golf, skiing, and playing tennis with his children and grandchildren and was very proud that his four children all became lawyers. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Cathy. He leaves behind his four children, Robert Jr. (Kathy), Caroline Black Sikorske (Jeff), Mark (Rhonda), and Kevin (Patsy), and his 11 grandchildren, Brett, Julia, Kara Kapusta, Will and Carson Black, Annalise, Delaney and Abigail Kapusta, Caden, Alexandra and Katie Kapusta, all of whom will dearly miss their Grandfather and his Christmas board meetings. Calling hours are Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 4:00pm to 5:30pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 5:30pm in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
