Robert Lyons

Robert Paul Lyons, age 83, of Milford, formerly of Ledyard, Gaithersburg, MD and Lady Lake, FL, passed away on Thursday, February 03, 2011, which was his 60th Wedding Anniversary, in Gardner Heights in Shelton. He was born on August 20, 1927 in Newbury, MI, to the late Fred and Delia Schafner Lyons. He proudly served in the US Navy, Submarine Service, during WWII and the Korean War and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1964. In 1990, he relocated to Lady Lake, FL. An active member of the community, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree and the US Submarine Veterans, Holland Club Member. Mr. Lyons is survived by his devoted children: Robert M. (Maria) Lyons of Milford, Theresa (Doug) Allen of Custer, SD, Susan (Ted) Vogt of Oceanside, CA, Patricia Davis and her companion Wayne Neff of Mystic, sister Mary Housenga of Fulton, IL, grandchildren Patrick Lyons, Jennifer Carney, Daniel Vogt, Anna Vogt, Stephen Vogt, Michael Davis and Stephanie Davis and great grandchildren Robert Scott Bartlett, Breanna Carney and Aurora Vogt. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife Patricia Milligan Lyons, brothers Joseph and Fred Lyons, sisters Helen Heffernan and Lorraine Musk and granddaughter Tracie Stirba. Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford are handling the arrangement in Connecticut. Services will be held in The Villages, Lady Lake, Florida. Interment will follow in Florida National Cemetery Bushnell, FL. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2911 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518.
