Rocco Rende

Rocco F. Rende, age 92, of Bridgeport entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in St. Vincent’s Hospital. A lifelong Bridgeport resident, he was born on August 20, 1922 to the late Michael and Rosina Amone Rende. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII and retired from the oil industry, where he worked as a salesman. An active member of the community, he volunteered at Bridgeport Hospital, the Jewish Home in Fairfield, St. Joseph Manor in Trumbull and was an usher for St. Margaret Shrine. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted daughter Katharine Edwards and grandchildren Nicholas and Sarah Edwards, all of Milford, who were Rocco's primary caregivers, two sons, Michael Rende of Woodbury, CT and Richard Rende of Arizona, sister Angelina Rende of Fairfield, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife Antoinette “Toni” Biscardi Rende, and three sisters. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Vincent’s ICU. Calling hours are Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 5 to 8pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 12th at 11am in St. Margaret Shrine, Bridgeport, CT. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Margaret Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport, Ct.
