Ruth Walsh

Ruth M. Walsh, age 82, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Walsh, died on Thursday, March 3, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Worcester, MA on November 20, 1933, daughter of the late James and Catherine Erb Feeley. Ruth was a dedicated registered nurse whom retired from Milford Hospital. She was also a former owner of Howard’s Variety and she later worked as a nursing supervisor at Pond Point Healthcare. An active member of the community, Ruth was an avid bingo player and she knitted for the Blue Mantle Ministry at St. Gabriel Church. She is survived by her devoted children Francis Walsh and his wife Jayne, Mary Lavery and her husband Richard “Monk,” and Kelly Walsh, all of Milford; grandchildren, Jonathan, Erin, and Thomas Walsh, Kirsten, Richard, and Whitney Lavery and Bryanne Walsh; siblings, James Feeley of Northborough, MA, Paul Feeley of Worcester, MA, Joseph Feeley of Grafton, MA, and Patricia East of St. Petersburg, FL and many nieces and nephews including grand nieces and nephews. Ruth is predeceased by her siblings Rita Stencel, Helen Vela, John Feeley, Mary Henning, Richard “Dick” Feeley, Wilfred Feeley, Catherine Phelan, Harold Feeley, and her granddaughter Sharon Walsh. Calling hours will be held Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford from 4 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 8th at 10:00 am in St. Gabriel’s Church Milford. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Milford Fire Dept. Toys for Tots Program. Checks may be mailed to Toys for Tots, Station 1, 72 New Haven Ave, Milford, CT 06460.
