Shirley Marie Schumitz, age 74, of Oxford, previously of Milford, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2010 in Connecticut Hospice. She was born on October 30, 1935 in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada to the late Charles and Marjorie Maxwell Brown. Before retiring, she was employed as the Head of Human Resources for Sears and was the secretary for Ryders Mobile Home Park. Mrs. Schumitz is survived by her loving husband, of 52 years, Frederick E. Schumitz, devoted children Larry D. (Margaret) Schumitz of Orange, Glen A. (Joan) Schumitz of Oxford and Lynn M. Grasso of Orange, sister Bernice W. Kahabka of New Orleans, LA., 6 grandchildren Matt, Jennifer, Kevin, Jake, Benjamin, Lars and her beloved cat Mango. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 4 to 7pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, September 2nd at 11am in the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford, CT 06405.
