Walton Rollins

On December 14, 2014, Walton Frederick Rollins, beloved husband of Theresa V. (Bakis) Rollins, left this earth surrounded by his loving family. Wally was born on August 12, 1927 to Rose Schnell and Burton Rollins in New Britain, Connecticut. He was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor. He graduated from Hartford Public High School and proudly served as a decorated First Class Seaman in the United States Navy during World War II. He received the American Theater Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, and One Star Victory Medal, while serving his country. He was employed as a PBX technician at the Southern New England Telephone Company for 39 years. He was a devoted father to Walton Jr., daughter-in-law, Sally Rollins of Milford, CT, and daughter, Cynthia Rollins Astone of Somers, CT. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Kristen, Michael, and Megan Rollins, and Lauren, Alison, and Stephen Astone. He also leaves behind 22 nieces and nephews. Wally was an avid Red Sox fan and loved creating art, train scapes, and writing stories, which he shared with his loved ones. He had a love for the outdoors and gardening. His greatest joys in life were visits to “Mohegan”, Sunday drives, vacations to Florida with his loving wife, Terry, daily chats with his buddy, Bob, and family time spent with his children and grandchildren. He brought much joy and happiness throughout the years to each member of his family. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM in St. Agnes Church in Milford, CT. A military burial will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford, CT. Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad Street, Milford is handling the arrangements.
