Wilbert Lucht Obituary

Wilbert A. Lucht (Bill), age 89, of Danville, California, formerly of Orange, CT., died on August 10, 2008. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Patricia C. Lucht, to whom he was happily married for 33 years. He was predeceased by his first wife, Flora S. Lucht. Bill was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 4, 1919 to the late Herman and Ida (Maas) Lucht. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 1941 with a bachelors degree in Metallurgy and Engineering. He served in the US Army as a sergeant during WW II. He then went on to work for US Steel as a metallurgist and then went on to become an expert in Wire Rope. He was known internationally as “Mr. Wire Rope” Mr. Lucht was one of the founders and past Presidents of the Paugussett Club of Orange, a member of the American Senior Wire Rope Engineers and served on the Board of Governors at Lyman Gun Sight. Survivors include his loving children: William (Sondra) Lucht, Robert (Anne) Lucht, Jamie Lucht, Susan (Gordon) Leahey, Richard Lott, Linda (James) Williams, Tricia (Jay) Sorgen and Thomas Lott. He is also survived by his sister Mildred (John) Haller, 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and predeceased by his brother Robert Lucht and sister Edna Lucht. He had a great passion for his vegetable garden, feeding the birds and loved watching the San Francisco 49ers and the Golden State Warriors. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Graveside service will be held Saturday August 16, 2008 at 11:00 am directly in Orange Center Cemetery, Orange Center Rd., Orange, CT. The arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford.
