William J. Balling, age 74, of Stratford passed away in St. Vincent’s Hospital on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. He was born on August 13, 1941 in Bridgeport to the late Robert and Hazel Burns Balling. He proudly served in the US Coast Guard and was employed by Fieldview Farms before retiring. An active member of the community, he was a member of the Polish Club and the Moose Lodge. He will be remembered for his passion for truck driving, living near the water and boating. Mr. Balling is survived by his devoted children April Balling (Khaled), Robert Balling (Kathleen), Lisa Hamilton (Raymond), Kathy Malewicki (Christopher) and Guy Treszi, grandchildren Melissa Balling, Matthew Cote, Alyssa and Daniel Balling, Kimberly Treszi, Guy Treszi, Jr., Laura Hamilton, Matthew Hamilton and Rachel Hamilton, great grandchildren Julian Hernandez, Alex Cote and Sophia Balling, sisters and brothers Vivian Crews, Alfred Rose, Anton Rose, Alfred Rose and Lynda Osmolik nieces and nephews Glenn, Patty & Jimmy Crews, Joey Rose, Christopher and Jennifer Farmer along with many great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife Gail Perry, son William Treszi, stepdad John Delaney, brother Jimmy, sister Jacqueline and brother-in-law Moody Crews. Calling hours are Monday, February 22, 2016 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford. Burial will be private.
