Prospect - Mr. Alfred Joseph Fortier, age 84, formerly of 115 Cheshire Rd., died Friday March 26,2010 at the Paradigm Health Care Center of Prospect. He was the widower Mary (Turmel) Fortier. Mr. Fortier was born in St. Theodore, P.Q. Canada on June 10,1925 a son of the late Alphonse Fortier and the late Blandine (Paradis) (Fortier) (Dalpe) Cordeau. He was retired from Microtech in Cheshire and was a communicant of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Prospect. He was a United States veteran having served during World War II. Mr. Fortier enjoyed feeding birds, reading, his little Chihuahuas, and watching wrestling. Mr. Fortier is survived by a son; Edward Fortier of Waterbury, two grandchildren: Joseph E. Fortier and his wife Theresa of New Hartford and Dawn Crandall and her husband Dave of Prospect, four great grandchildren: Kenneth, Kara, Kyle, and Kallasandra and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son: Alfred Joseph Fortier Jr., two brothers: Lucien A. Fortier and Emile J. Fortier and a sister: Noella M. Lamy. The funeral will be held on Tuesday March 30,2010 at 8:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 26 Waterbury Rd. Route 69 Prospect to St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church 4 Union City Rd. Prospect for a mass at 9 a.m. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday March 29,2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Southern New England Region - Wilton, CT 372 Danbury Rd.
