Anthony J. Pompano

Naugatuck, CT - Anthony J. Pompano, 89, husband of Lois (Everett) Pompano, died peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Beacon Brook Health Center with his loving family by his side. Anthony was born on December 28, 1926, in East Haven, CT. He was the son of the late Angelo and Mary (Celentano) Pompano, a Borough resident for most of his life, and a graduate of Naugatuck High School Class of 1944. After completing an enlistment in the U. S. Navy during World War II, he attended Rider College earning a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and applied those skills working for M & H Food Brokers in New York for over 30 years. Anthony is survived by his wife, Lois Pompano of Naugatuck; son Mark Pompano and his wife Mary Kate of Southington, son Lt. Colonel Jim Pompano, USAF, Retired; sister Helen Gesseck and her husband Edward of Naugatuck; granddaughters Alyssa and Haley Pompano; step-grandchildren Emily, Robert and Sarah Nadile; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 1, 2016, at 10:30 am, at St. Mary’s Church, 338 North Main Street, Naugatuck, with Military Honors to follow. Those planning to attend are asked to please go directly to the church. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. To honor Anthony’s memory, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 338 North Main Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770 or to the Alzheimer’s Association CT, 200 Executive Blvd, Suite 4-B, Southington, CT 06489.
