Arline O'Donovan Obituary

NAUGATUCK - Mrs. Arline (Zehnder) O'Donovan, 86, of 15 Locust St., passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Saint Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Joseph D. O'Donovan. Mrs. O'Donovan was born on July 2, 1923, in Naugatuck, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Louise (Linskey) Zehnder. She was retired from Cheshire High School where she was an English teacher until 1988. She also taught at Ellsworth High School in South Windsor and Bronxville High School in Bronxville, N.Y. She was a member of the Friends of the Whittemore Library in Naugatuck and also the Naugatuck YMCA. She is survived by two daughters, Maureen Ehret and her husband, John, of Yardley, Pa., and Denise O'Donovan and her husband, Dan Anderson, of Amherst, Mass.; a son, Timothy O'Donovan of Millington, N.J.; a sister, Dorothy Mariano of Naugatuck; and a brother, Donald Zehnder of Naugatuck; seven grandchildren, Deirdre, Molly and Briana Ehret, Caroline and Martha O'Donovan, Emma Jo and Lucy Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Zehnder of California. The funeral will be held 11:15 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010, from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect, to St. Mary's Church, Naugatuck, for a Mass at noon.
