Blanche Fitzpatrick Obituary

Blanche C. Fitzpatrick, 90, widow of Thomas J. Fitzpatrick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Peregrine Landing in Clinton, CT with her family by her side. Blanche was born in Waterbury, CT to Italian immigrants Pasquale and Lena (DelNigro) Cofrancesco. After attending Post Junior College, she worked at the Timex Corporation until her marriage to Tom in 1945. She and Tom raised their seven children in Naugatuck before retiring to Florida. A lover of the arts, Blanche enjoyed opera, theater, and concerts and attended many cultural events throughout her life. She derived great joy from music, playing both the piano and the organ, and singing with several choral groups in Connecticut and Florida. On holidays, Blanche, her sisters, and their children often gathered around the piano to sing her favorite Irish and Italian songs. A golf and bridge enthuriast, she enjoyed the company of many dear friends who shared her interests. She also loved to travel to Europe with her husband, friends, and family members. Blanche is survived by her seven children Mary Eileen Galiette and her husband John, Thomas J. (Tim) Fitzpatrick and his wife Joan, Kathi Peck and her husband Ron, Maureen Fitzpatrick and her husband Gerry Neipp, Edward G. (Ned) Fitzpatrick and his wife Sue, Polly Edwards and her husband Steve, Paul Fitzpatrick and his wife Lisa. She was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Blanche is predeceased by three brothers and three sisters; her surviving sister and brother, Grace (Dolly) DeZinno and Charles (Sonny) Cofrancesco, reside in Florida. The Fitzpatrick family extends its heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Peregrine Landing in Clinton, CT, for the loving care they provided to Blanche, and Middlesex Hospice, who guided her through her final journey in this life. The family will hold a private memorial service at their convenience. Memorial donations may be made to the Naugatuck YMCA, 284 Church Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770-4122 or the Mercy Learning Center, 637 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604-4611.
