Cecil Obar

Prospect - Mr. Cecil E. Obar, age 85, died Wednesday April 20, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was the husband of Madeline L. (Smith) Obar. Mr. Obar was born in Washburn, Maine on October 21, 1925 a son of the late Frank and Georgie (Corey) Obar. He was rertired from Pratt and Whitney where he worked as an aircraft mechanic for many years and was a member of the Pinebrook Assembly of God in Naugatuck. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II. Besides his wife, Mr. Obar is survived by three daughters, Brenda King of Massachusetts, Genie Chatfield of Waterbury and Dale Beaudry of Prospect, three sons, Cecil Obar Jr. of Waterbury, Dana Obar of Naugatuck and Stephen Obar of Georgia, four brothers, Carry Obar of Vermont, Clyde Obar of Naugatuck, Carrol Obar of Arizona, and Carlton Obar of Maine, 18 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services and burial with full military honors will be held on Thursday April 28,2011 at 11:30 a.m. at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane Middletown. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 26 Waterbury Rd. Route 69 Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
