Charles Cantoni Co-owned Saf-T Auto Center PROSPECT — Mr. Charles Cantoni, 57, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 3, 2011. He was the husband of Gail Jean (Hellmann) Cantoni. Mr. Cantoni was born in Portsmouth, Va., on July 15, 1953, a son of the late Charles and Alba (Altobello) Cantoni. He was the owner, along with his wife, Gail, of Saf-T Auto Center in Cheshire since 1985. Besides his family, he loved riding his Harley V-Rod motorcycle, enjoyed racing cars at Lime Rock, and was a past member of the Prospect Gun Club. Besides his wife, Mr. Cantoni is survived by three daughters, Shana Cantoni of Waterbury, Lisa Boyko and her husband, Michael, of New Britain, and Jamie Cantoni of Prospect; a son, Charlie Cantoni of Prospect; three sisters, Lisa Cantoni of Virginia, Lori Atkinson of Florida, and Pia Cantoni of Florida; three brothers, Steven Cantoni of Watertown, Chris Cantoni of Thomaston, and Mark Cantoni of Florida; his mother-in-law, Margie Hellmann of Waterbury; his rescue dog, Nina; several wonderful in-laws; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 9, 2011, from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington 06111.
