Naugatuck - Mr. Donald E. Martindale, age 77, of 48 Patricia Lane, died Thursday January 6,2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was the widower of Nancy Martindale and was the longtime loving companion of Linda Gaudet of Naugatuck. Mr. Martindale was born in Hamden on March 21,1933 a son of the Late William and Margaret (Cote) Martindale. He was retired from the Robert E. Raccio Concrete Construction Company where he worked as a mason for many years and was a member of the Pinebrook Assembly of God in Naugatuck. He was a U.S. Army veteran having been stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Mr. Martindale was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed sports and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Mr. Martindale is survived by a daughter: Sandra Garrett and her husband Todd of Naugatuck, a son Donald E. Martindale Jr. and his wife Doris of Naugatuck, five brothers: Bobby Martindale and his wife Charlotte, Richard Martindale, Edward Martindale and his wife MaryAnn, George Martindale and his wife Deb and Charles Martindale and his wife Lucille, a sister: Margaret Martindale, eight grandchildren: Colleen Smith, Stephanie Smith, Caroline Garrett, Ambur Dumais, Isabell Dumais, Michael Caruso, Kate Caruso and Jonathan Caruso, all of Naugatuck, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son: Charles Donald Martindale, a brother: William "Bub" Martindale Jr. and a sister-in-law: Phyllis Martindale. A memorial service will be held on Friday January 14,2011 at 11 a.m. at the Pinebrook Assembly of God 232 City Hill St. Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 82 Fairview Ave. Naugatuck is in charge of arrangements.
