Naugatuck, CT Dorothy (Taylor) Marcellus, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck.


Dorothy was born on March 1, 1931 in Naugatuck, a daughter of the late Wilfred and Adella (Noble) Taylor. After 30 years, she retired from The Eastern Company as the switchboard operator, where she also met and married the love of her life, Frank Marcellus. Dorothy loved to travel with friends on The Gadabout bus trips and enjoyed special evenings with family and friends at The Golden Lamb Buttery Restaurant. She will be missed by the “porch ladies” on Weid Drive, where they spent many summer nights. She was an active member of Hillside Covenant Church, where she enjoyed volunteering her time with her many friends.


Dorothy is survived by her sister, Wilma Ruccio of Naugatuck; stepson, Roger Marcellus and stepdaughter, Linda Turpel and her husband, Troy of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Cindy Obal and her husband, Dave and their children, Ashlyn and Kyle; and Michael Turpel, all of Las Vegas, NV; as well as several nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Frank Marcellus and her nine brothers and sisters.


Dorothy’s family would like to thank the staff of Beacon Brook Health Center for their kindness and for the compassionate care they provided.


Funeral services will be held Monday, March 26, 2018 at 10:00am at Hillside Covenant Church, 100 Hillside Avenue, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hillside Covenant Church, Memorial Gift Fund, 100 Hillside Avenue, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
