Naugatuck-Francis Joseph Lombard, 85, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Anna Mae (Hendricks) Lombard the love of his life. Mr. Lombard was born on July 3, 1926 in Millville a son of the late Francis J. and Anne Alice (Bartlett) Lombard. He was a WW2 Veteran having served as a Petty Officer in the USNavy. He completed 4 years of military service and spent 3 years in the South Pacific involved in operations in Hawaii, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was retired from Cly-Del Manufacturing after 33 years most of which he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and deep sea fishing and played a mean game of set back. He loved his family deeply. Dad had a special message to his loved ones "God Bless all the good people I knew in my lifetime and God Bless all of our Veterans." He is survived by three daughters, Linda Merchant and her husband Steve of Plymouth, Deborah Corso of Stratford and Rebecca Stadnicki and her husband Steve of Bristol, one son, John Lombard and his wife Norma Jean of Naugatuck, two sisters, Janice Woodfield of Naugatuck and Margaret Bartoletti of Southington. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Steven Jr. and Tamra, Katie and Ben, Rocco D and Lauren, JoJo and Sophie, Gracie Mae, Molly, Emily and Sara and by two great grandchildren, Carter and Julia. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St, Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Private burial with full military honors will be in St. James Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. The Naugatuck Veterans Council will assemble at the funeral home at 7:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial Contributions may be made to: St. Jude 's Children's Research Hospital Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
