Frank R. Benson New Haven Copper retiree BEACON FALLS - Frank Robert Benson, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012. He was the widower of Sarah (Watters) Benson. Mr. Benson was born on May 4, 1923, in Middlebury, a son of the late Oscar Benson and Alma (Hallene) Benson. He was retired from New Haven Copper Co. where he worked for many years. He enjoyed being with friends and family, building stone walls, fixing cars, farm equipment and attending car shows. He is survived by two daughters, Roberta Ferla and her husband, Salvatore, of Southington and Lea Rocco and her husband, Bruno, of Hamden; one son, Ronald J. Benson and his wife, Laura, of Melbourne, Australia; his five grandchildren, Tyler, Todd, Alexander, Breanna and Samantha, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Irene Wininger and Emily Houle, and four brothers, William, Herbert, David and George. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
