Frank Doyle

Frank (Bud) Doyle, 89, died April 10 at home after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Rosemary (Fitzgerald) Doyle, his devoted wife of 62 years. Bud was born October 6, 1920 in Waterbury, Connecticut. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Prospect. Bud was the founder of Doyle's Double A Farm in Prospect, which has supplied eggs to the region for 70 years. He was a veteran of WWII and served on the Destroyer USS Hawkins for 39 months in the South Pacific. He graduated from Crosby High School in 1938. He later studied creative writing, advertising, and even attempted to obtain a patent for a unique invention. He was an avid student of economics and history and enjoyed a scholarly interest in the written word. Throughout his life, Bud looked to humor as the common thread that connected him to friends, family and business associates alike. He was well known for his chicken jokes, which were oft repeated. Bud loved the tranquility and beauty of the ocean as well as the wooded areas around his home. In addition to his wife, Bud is survived by five children; Marian Levine and her husband Jim of Middlebury, Peg Seabrooke and her husband Paul of Branford, Marj Devaney and her husband Kim of Prospect, Pete Doyle and his fiancée, Jan Pullen of Prospect, and Jim Doyle and his wife Robin of West Hartford. He also leaves nine grandchildren; Jamie Davis, Brian Levine, Katy Seabrooke, Mike Seabrooke, Pat Devaney, Sean Devaney, Colin Devaney, Ryan Doyle, Megan Doyle and 1 great-grandchild, Nathan Davis. Bud is pre-deceased by his sister Doris Doyle Sheeler. Bud was active in his community, including membership in the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department, Prospect Board of Education, Prospect Board of Finance, PTA Vice-President, Grand Juror, St. Anthony's Holy Name Society, and the Renew Prayer Group. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday April 13, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church 4 Union City Rd. Prospect. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 26 Waterbury Rd. Route 69 Prospect on Monday April 12, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Prospect Land Trust Inc. P.O. Box 7375 Prospect, Ct. 06712 or the Fr.
