NAUGATUCK — Mr. Gerald Joseph Boutot, 82, husband of Jeanne Marie Geralda (Blier) Boutot, of 30 Pond St., died Saturday morning, July 24, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Mr. Boutot was born Nov. 23, 1927, in Stockholm, Maine, a son of the late Romeo and Ludvine (Michaud) Boutot. He was a retired employee of Risdon Mfg. Co. where he had worked as a supervisor for over 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, enlisting during World War II just after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was an avid golfer and a member of the VFW Post 1946. He was a school crossing guard at St. Francis School from 1990 to 1995. He enjoyed watching and rooting for his beloved NY Yankees baseball team. He and his wife, Jeanne, were foster parents, raising over 27 foster children during their marriage in addition to their own eight children. He was a communicant of St. Francis Church. Besides his wife, Jeanne, of Naugatuck, he is survived by three sons, Gerald Joseph Boutot Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, of Randolph, Vt., Mark Boutot and Kevin Boutot, both of Naugatuck; five daughters, Jeanne Leibham of Plainville, Sandy "Sam" Blanchard and her husband, Bruce, of Naugatuck, Kathy Bennett and her husband, Lou, of Prospect, Linda Boutwell and her husband, Howie, of Braintree, Vt., and Lee Ann Soden and her husband, Brian, of Waterbury; three brothers, Robert Boutot of Plantsville, Jerome Boutot of Bare Foot Bay, Fla., and Gaylen Boutot of Manchester; four sisters, Geraldine Soucy of St. David, Maine, Geneva St. Arnold of Punta Gorda, Fla., Ramona Della Vecchia and Cecile Zantow, both of Southington; 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Roland and Donald Boutot, and one sister, Charlene Albert. A military funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, to St. Francis Church for a Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. The family has asked that friends and relatives make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
