Harold A. Racevicius Retired President of Naugatuck Glass Company Stuart FL, Woodbury, CT — Harold A. Racevicius, 74, the husband of Marie (Vieira) Racevicius, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2016 at VITAS Innovative Hospice Care surrounded by his loving family. Harry was born in Kallies, Germany on December 6, 1941, a son of the late Tadas Peter Racevicius and Zenta Konopacki Racevicius, who immigrated to America and eventually settled in Naugatuck. Harry graduated from Naugatuck High School and received a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut. He was employed at Uniroyal Footwear as a general foreman prior to his hiring at Naugatuck Glass Company, where he was an operations manager and eventually retired as President after 30 years of service. He volunteered for over a decade as a basketball coach for Little Pal at the YMCA, St. Francis CYO and as a baseball coach for Babe Ruth. Harry served on the board of directors of the Naugatuck YMCA, and the Country Club of Waterbury. He loved golfing with his children, grandchildren and many friends from Hop Brook, Watertown Golf Club, Oxford Greens, Mariner Sands and the Country Club of Waterbury. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Kimberly and Robert Roscoe and their children Callee and Connor; his son Paul and Mary Racevicius and their children Tadas, Lucas and Marcas and his son Peter and Pamela Racevicius and their children Taylor, Sydney and Cameron. His sister Irene and Gene Guilbert of Roxbury. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all of those who gave such wonderful care to Harry, especially St. Mary’s Hospital, VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, Hartford Healthcare VNA, The Hospital for Special Care ALS Clinic and UCONN Health Center. Family and friends may call from 4pm to 8pm on Monday January 18, at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue Naugatuck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, at St. John of the Cross Church, 1321 Whittemore Road, Middlebury. Those planning on attending the funeral Mass are kindly asked to go directly to the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor Harry’s memory may be made to the St Mary’s Hospital Foundation, 56 Franklin Street, Waterbury, CT 06706 or to ALS of CT, at www.ALSct.org.
