Johanna DeMagistris Retired longtime seamstress PROSPECT - Johanna DeMagistris, 70, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014 at the Smilow Cancer Center. She was the wife of Luigi DeMagistris. Johanna was born in Munich, Germany on March 6, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Josef and Anna Quint. She worked as a seamstress for various companies throughout her life until her retirement. Besides her husband, Johanna is survived by four daughters, Angelika Dunn and her husband Kyle of Wolcott, Claudia Calcaterra and her husband John of Prospect, Monika DeMagistris of Waterbury and Iris Pelosi with her husband, also of Waterbury; one son, Alfonso DeMagistris and his wife Ellen of Prospect; two brothers, Eugene Quint of New Britain and Herman Quint of California. Johanna also leaves 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, at 9 a.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, 20 York St., New Haven, CT 06510.
