John O'Connor

Naugatuck-John Francis O'Connor, passed away February 19, 2014 at Waterbury Hospital. Mr. O'Connor was born in Naugatuck on February 25, 1919, son of the late Peter and Mary (Quinlan) O'Connor. He attended Naugatuck schools and was a communicant of St. Francis Church in Naugatuck. He worked for many years at the Naugatuck Chemical, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. O'Connor was a US Air Corps Veteran with the 361st Fighter Group, 376 Fighter Squadron 8th Air Force stationed in England during World War II. He is survived by his sister Charlotte of Phoenix, AZ, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his very good friend, Karen A. Knapp of Watertown. John will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends. He was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters. His family would like to give special thanks to his care nurse Sue Albini from New England Home Care and the staff at Compassionate Companions, LLC. of Waterbury The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors will be in St. James Cemetery. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
