Justine M. O'Donnell Navy veteran of WWII CROMWELL — Justine Mary O'Donnell passed away on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at the CT Hospice Center in Branford. She was born Feb. 18, 1924, in Naugatuck, a daughter of the late John and Anne O'Donnell. She attended St. Francis School, Naugatuck High School, the College of New Rochelle and the Yale School of Medical Technology. She worked at New York Presbyterian Hospital and in the private sector.During WWII, she enlisted in the Navy and was stationed at Key West. After the war, she was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. Until recently, she lived in Niantic. She was an avid reader, traveled extensively and enjoyed her volunteer hospital work. She is survived by her sisters, Jeannette of Cromwell and Jane Bourn and her husband, Ben, of Old Lyme. She is also survived by two nieces, Susan Schlachter of Old Lyme and Sarah Bourn of Wilmington, Vt.; a nephew, Jeffrey Bourn of Aspen, Colo.; three great-nieces, Sara, Rachel and Amanda; and a great-nephew, Jeremy, and his son, Jeremiah. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, is in charge of arrangements.
