Karen Monaco

Naugatuck, CT- Karen K. Monaco, 72, widow of Jerome J. Monaco, died peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Karen was born on April 14, 1945 in Kankakee, IL the daughter of the late Oliver Frank Wallock and Kathryn Anna (Speese) (Wallock) Allen. A lifelong resident of the Naugatuck valley area, she graduated from Naugatuck High School in the class of 1963. A working mother of two, Karen was a retired employee of American Electrical Terminal Co. located in Waterbury. Karen was a member of the United Methodist Church of Naugatuck where she helped to staff the thrift shop for many years. In retirement, she was a companion to, and care giver for her mother Kathryn. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, including bead design, quilting, embroidery, and greeting card making. She also enjoyed learning to utilize computers and playing electronic puzzle games. Karen is survived by her brother Oliver F. Wallock, her son, Christopher J. Monaco, her daughter, Kerry Ann (Monaco) Cooper. She will be missed by her three granddaughters, a great grandchild, extended family and several members of the Naugatuck community. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 30th, 2017, at United Methodist Church of Naugatuck, 214 Meadow Street.
