Waterbury-Karin (Gocht) Steiner, 74, of 72 Overton Avenue, passed away on July 3, 2010 at Middlebury Convalescent Home. She was the widow of Richard Steiner. Mrs. Steiner was born on February 11, 1936 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Alfred Oscar and Freida (Kohl) Gocht. She retired from the City of Waterbury where she worked as the Secretary of Kennedy High School, as well as in the Town Clerk's office and the Department of Social Services. Prior to working for the City of Waterbury she was the secretary at First Lutheran Church. She is survived by one daughter, Julie Buckmiller and her husband David of Naugatuck, one son Karl Steiner of Waterbury, one step-daughter Heidi Steiner of Waterbury, two step sons, Robert Steiner and his wife Debbie of Ocala, FL and Heinz Steiner and his wife Connie of Waterbury, four step granddaughters and one step great grandson, many nieces and nephews and her loving dog Brewster. She was predeceased by one step grandson. Karin was very active in her church where she was a past President of the Church Counsel, Member of the Ladies Aide Society, and the Alter Guiled. She was also involved with the Service Committee, GWIM Food Bank, Prison Ministry, and taught Sunday School and Bible study at First Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Oakville VFW Post 7330 Ladies Auxiliary, and Support Our Soldiers - Troops We Care where she sent many packages to the troops. And was an active auxiliary member of the 100th Division, Company A 397th Infantry. The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 9:00 am at the First Lutheran Church, 88 Cooke Street, Waterbury. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Meriden Rd, Waterbury. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck is in charge of the arrangements.
