Mr. Kelly Brendan Nolan, 56, of Norwich died unto eternal life Wednesday July 6, 2011 at William Backus Hospital in Norwich after a lengthy illness. Kelly was born September 10, 1954, son of the late Andrew F. and Hazel (Somers) Nolan of Naugatuck. He attended St. Francis School in Naugatuck, graduated from Holy Cross High School, attended Yale University, and the University of Bridgeport graduating from the University of New Haven. An educator by profession he taught in statewide educational setting and school districts in New Britain, Naugatuck, and New Haven. He is survived by his cherished daughter Ms. Erin Eileen Nolan of Naugatuck, two brothers and their wives, Kevin and Rosalie Nolan of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Terence and Alice Nolan of Naugatuck; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Nolan of Naugatuck and Geraldine Nolan of Waterbury, and many nieces and nephews. Kelly was predeceased by two brothers, Brian T. Nolan and Andrew J. Nolan. Funeral services and Mr. Nolan's burial will be held at St. James Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions in honoring Kelly can be made to the St. Francis-St. Hedwig School Advancement Fund, 294 Church St. Naugatuck. The family expresses their deep appreciation to the staff of doctors and nurses at William Backus Hopital for their utmost professionalism and outstanding compassionate treatment of Kelly during his last weeks. They also give thanks to Mr. Raymond Lennon, Sr. of Naugatuck for his generous and compassionate outreach to Mr. Nolan and his family during Kelly's final months. Gratitude is extended to the clergy and religious sister of the Norwich Diocese. The guiding and life-affirming words of Jesus of Nazareth: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light". Matthew 11:28-30.
