Naugatuck, CT Lillian (Farina) Swierbitowicz, 98, wife of the late Joseph John Swierbitowicz, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 6, 2015, at Glendale Center in Naugatuck.

Lillian was born on February 4, 1917, in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of the late Luigi and Anna (Canava) Farina, and lived most of her life in Naugatuck. Lillian was a graduate of Post Junior College and had worked until her retirement as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Lillian proudly served her country during World War II as a U.S. Navy WAVE.

Lillian is survived by her son, Robert Louis Swierbitowicz and his wife Marita; her daughter Nancy Hollis; her grandchildren, William, Robert, and Ronald Swierbitowicz, her great grandchildren, Shane, Audrey, Joseph and Grace Swierbitowicz; her sister, Margaret Strenger and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Lillian was predeceased by her son Joseph John Swierbitowicz and her 6 sisters and 2 brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708.
