Mrs. Marjorie J. Obrien Boater, certified scuba diver BETHANY — Mrs. Marjorie Joy (Flickinger) (Koroluk) Obrien, age 68, of Bethany, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven after a brief illness. She was the wife of Patrick Obrien. Mrs. Obrien was born in Kankakee, Ill., on March 16, 1943, a daughter of Margaret Flickinger of Bethany and the late John Flickinger. She worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years at Southern New England Ear, Nose and Throat in New Haven and was a member of the First Church of Christ Congregational in Bethany. She was an avid boater and certified scuba diver. Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Obrien is survived by a daughter, Kim Clement and her husband, Ronald Jr., of Bethlehem; a son, David Koroluk of St. Augustine, Fla.; a sister, Janice Petrillo of Watertown; four grandchildren, Nicole Johnson, Jennessa Gvajardo, Amanda Clement and Alexis Koroluk; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at a time to be announced at First Church of Christ Congregational, 511 Amity Road, Bethany. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society New England Division, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill 06067-3045; or to Connecticut Humane Society, 788 Amity Road, Bethany 06524.
