Naugatuck- Mary C. (Kennedy) Carroll, 92, passed away on August 31, 2012 at St. Mary’s VITAS unit. She was the wife of the late James S. Carroll Sr. Mary was born in Waterbury on August 18, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Rosella (Creem) Kennedy. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1938. Mary was a communicant of St. Francis Church in Naugatuck where she was an active parishioner for many years. She is survived by her son James S. Carroll Jr. and his wife Lois of Waterbury; three daughters: Mary Jane (Janie) and her husband Ronald Tatro of Somerville, NJ.; Margaret (Peggy) and her husband Jack Gillis of Temple Terrace, FL.; Barbara and her husband Barry Lavalle of Newton, MA. She is also survived by her sister Joan Bolger of Fairfield. Besides her husband and parents Mary was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Luddy and Frances Spain and her brother, Reverend Charles Kennedy. Mary leaves eleven grandchildren: Michael and Brian Carroll, Nicole, Lauren, Matthew and Christopher Tatro, Christine and Michael Gillis and Kate, Jennifer, and Sarah Lavalle. She leaves nine great grandchildren as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dearest friend, Sister Madeline Follachio. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 7, at 12:00 noon at St. Francis of Assisi Church 318 Church St. Naugatuck. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Calling hour will be from 10:30 to 11:30 on Friday morning at Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Francis School Foundation, PO Box 292, Naugatuck, Ct. 06770.
