Prospect - Mrs. Mary C. (Byrnes) Perry, age 87, of 6 Terry Lane, passed away on Saturday October 30, 2010 at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Plantsville where she resided for the last two years following a long illness with Parkinson's Disease. She was the widow of Joseph Perry. Mary was born in Waterbury on February 12,1923, daughter of the late Garrett Byrnes and Mary (Walsh) Byrnes, originally from County Kerry, Ireland. She leaves behind four children; Edward Perry and his wife Kim of Cary, North Carolina; Susan LaVallee and her husband William of Cheshire; Carolyn Bierce of Waterbury and Andrew Perry of Prospect; twelve grandchildren; Sharon Parziale and her husband Nicholas of Wolcott, Barbara Bierce and Jerry White of Waterbury, Dawn Sanders and her husband Kevin of Wolcott, George Bierce III of Waterbury, Brian Bierce of Waterbury, Laura Bierce of Waterbury, Spencer LaVallee of Brooklyn, New York, Alex LaVallee of Cheshire, Christopher Perry, Jennifer Perry and Michael Perry all of Cary, N.C., Ashlyn Perry of Cheshire and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Perry and a brother, John Byrnes. Mary was raised in Waterbury, graduated from Wilby High School and attended Perry Business School. She worked in Farrell Foundry before raising her family and later worked at Country Manor Convalescent Home in Prospect. She was a communicant and member of the Ladies Guild of St. Anthony's Church in Prospect. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed bowling and was especially fond of UConn basketball and Notre Dame football. The funeral will be held on Wednesday November 3,2010 at 9:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 26 Waterbury Rd. Rt. 69 Prospect to St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church 4 Union City Rd. Prospect for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Old St. Joseph Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday November 2,2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Resource Center, 1261 South Main St. Plantsville, Ct. 06489 where Mary was lovingly cared for during the last years of her life
