NAUGATUCK - Mr. Michael J. Timoney, 85, of 720 Andrew Mountain Road, formerly of 66 Yaphank Road, Rocky Point, N.Y., died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the widower of Lillian S. (Jones) Timoney. Mr. Timoney was born in Ballyshannon, County Donegal, Ireland, on Jan. 17,1925, son of the late John and Brigid (Kennedy) Timoney. Mr. Timoney lived for a brief time in Great Britain and served in the Royal Air Force as a paratrooper. He was retired from the Metro-North Railroad where he worked at Grand Central Terminal as a cabinet maker and general foreman for many years. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Rocky Point, N.Y., where he also served as an usher for many years. Mr. Timoney was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed baseball, fishing, playing cards, spending time with his family, and restoring his antique car. Mr. Timoney is survived by a daughter, Mary Beth Phillips and her husband, Mike, of Naugatuck, and two sisters, Molly Norton of Selden, N.Y., and Bella O'Connor of Sligo, Ireland, and their families. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Danielle Phillips, Deanna Phillips, Allison Phillips and Michael Phillips, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, 614 Route 25A, Rocky Point, N.Y. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3442 Route 112, Coram, N.Y. There are no calling hours.
