Deerfield Beach, FL - Michael Weglarz, 76, formerly of Naugatuck, CT, husband of Joyce (Montarro) Weglarz, died Sunday, October 12, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Wolcott, CT. Michael was born April 19, 1938 in Bridgeport, CT, the son of the late Michael Benjamin and Stella Weglarz. He was a Naugatuck resident for many years prior to his retirement, at which time he moved to Deerfield Beach, Florida. Michael was a former employee of Bridgeport Machine Company and communicant of St. Vincent Ferrer Church. He loved spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. When Mike wasn’t busy working on a household project, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, bingo, pinochle, trips to the casino with his family and was an avid Red Sox fan! In addition to his loving wife Joyce, Michael is survived by 3 daughters, Pamela (Weglarz) Woodfield and her husband Woody, of Wolcott, Patricia Weglarz of Waterbury, and her partner Rebecca Harris, Suzanne (Weglarz) Lang, of Waterbury, and a son, Michael A. Weglarz of Middlebury. In addition to his children, he leaves 5 grandchildren, Kaylee Lang, Scott Mitchell Lang, Michael Lang, Michael Anthony Weglarz, Jr., and Jordan McGinnis, as well as family member Scott Lang and several nieces and nephews. Michael also leaves behind three sisters, Dolores Batchelor and her husband Chris, Sonia Verdicchio, and Michele Caldarola. He is predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Eugene Weglarz. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home located at 82 Fairview Avenue in Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers and to honor the memory of Michael, contributions may be made to the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 6066, Wolcott, CT 06716 or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047. The family would also like to acknowledge the staff of Vitas, his nurse, Terry, and his aide, Lindsey for the compassionate care they provided to Michael.
