Reno Gola

Reno R. Gola Retired painter, paperhanger PROSPECT - Mr. Reno R. Gola, age 86, of Prospect, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at his home. He was the widower of Dorothea (Asplund) Gola. Reno was born in New Britain on June 25, 1926. He was retired after working as a self-employed painter and wallpaper hanger for many years and was a member of the CT Chapter of the National Guild of Professional Paperhangers. He was an active member of the Prospect Senior Center and truly enjoyed meeting and socializing with people. Reno was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann O'Brien and her husband, Daniel, of Plantsville; two sons, Michael Gola and his wife, Carol, of Waterbury and Gregory Gola and his wife, Lynne, of Ellington; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Jason and Shannon O'Brien and Stephanie Dekorte; and several nieces and nephews. Reno's close companion, Maggie Monthei of Prospect, and her loving family were very special to him. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Raymond Gola. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect. Burial with full military honors will be in Grove Cemetery in Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Newtown Youth and Family Services, 15 Berkshire Road, Sandy Hook, CT 06482, in support of those affected by the Sandy Hook School tragedy.
