SOUTHBURY Roslyn Marie (Blynder) Lerman passed away at her home after a long illness on May 1, 2015, surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Harold L. Lerman. Mrs. Lerman was born August 18, 1930, in New Haven, CT, daughter of the late Louis and Lillian Blynder. She graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven and after raising her family, she enrolled at Southern Connecticut State University receiving her Bachelors degree in 1979 followed by her Masters degree. Her family was proud of her accomplishments as a student and she routinely received high grades. After completing her education, Roz worked at the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center and the Woodbury School system as a vocational counselor. She treasured her relationships with her coworkers and students. Roz loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed playing golf and had been a member of Crestbrook Country Club and a longtime member of the Country Club of Waterbury. She also enjoyed playing bridge and caring for and watching various sporting and theatrical events involving her five grandchildren, all of whom she absolutely adored. Roz is survived by her loving sons, Lewis Lerman (Coleen) of Fairfield and Barry Lerman (Maura) of Pinehurst, NC, her five grandchildren, who will always cherish their memories of Grammy, Brian (Jennifer), Adam (Emily), Tara, Emily and Michael, four great grandchildren, Sophia, Jackson, Alexander and Eloise. Her sister, Myrna Winters, her brother-in-law, David (Ruth) Lerman, and her sister-in- law, Gertrude Lerman all survive her as do many cherished relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Annette. To honor Roz’s memory, donations may be made to Temple B’nai Israel, 444 Main Street North, Southbury, CT 06488 or to Easter Seals of Greater Waterbury, 22 Tompkins Street, Waterbury, CT 06708. A private graveside service will be held Tuesday at B’nai Jacob Memorial Park, New Haven. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a lunch on Tuesday at 12:30pm at the Country Club of Waterbury, One Oronoke Road, Waterbury. Shiva will be observed at Temple B’nai Israel, 444 Main Street North, Southbury, on Wednesday, starting at 7:00pm. The Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck is assisting the family with the arrangements.
