Sharon Evensen Obituary

Sharon K. Evensen Special Education and Music Teacher, Real Estate Agent Sharon K. Evensen died Sunday March 7 surrounded by her loving family after a heroic battle with cancer. During this struggle she continued to impress everyone with her positive outlook and determination. Born in Norwalk CT Sharon was the daughter of the late Lorraine Kuzman and John (Jack) Kuzman. She was educated in Norwalk schools and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Masters Degree in Education and a 6th year in Administration. She taught for many years in public school and shared her love of piano with many young people through the years. She loved animals and generously supported animal rights groups and adopted her beloved cats from a local shelter. She supported charities as well including the St. Mary=s Hospital Foundation, the Harold Lever Cancer Center, MS Society, American Lung Association, and the American Heart Association. She enjoyed traveling to Europe, Alaska, California, Canada and especially to her cousin Ann K. Dwyer=s home in Arizona and to her friends Bobbie and Mark Stahl=s home in Colorado. Ann was a great comfort to Sharon during her illness staying with her for weeks at a time. Sharon is survived by her husband Chris, her sister Sheryl K. Brenner of Danbury CT, her brother in law Scott and their children Emma and Andrew, as well as her two aunts Elizabeth Villano of Waterford CT and Rosalie Brax of Quaker Hill CT, Stevan Kuzman of Cobleskill NY and Ann K. Dwyer and her son Kyle of Arizona. She was predeceased by her cousin Larkyn Dwyer of New River, AZ. Sharon began teaching after graduation from Southern CT State University and coupled that with a real estate career with the Raveis Agency in Woodbury until her illness. She continued to share her love of music teaching piano to students in her beloved home and enjoyed conversations with the parents of her students and seeing the progress her hard work and devotion brought to them. The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck to Salem Lutheran Church for a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in North Cemetery in Woodbury later in the spring.
