Sophie (Jablonowski) Butler 1923 - 2020 Naugatuck, CT Sophie (Jablonowski) Butler, 97, beloved wife of the late Charles Butler, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at the home of her daughter, with whom she resided. Sophie was born on January 10, 1923 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John and Janina Jablonowksi and she was a breast cancer survivor. Sophie was a communicant of St. Hedwig Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and Choir. Sophie was blessed with a beautiful voice, which she shared for over 50 years as a member of the Kollege Kapers Variety Show. Sophie was a Red Cross blood drive volunteer and she retired from Uniroyal Footwear and Hospital Marketing. Sophie is survived by her daughters, Connie Butler and Eileen Gordon and her son in law, Deacon Robert Gordon; grandson Charles and his wife Brigid Gordon; granddaughter, Julia and her husband Gregory Wojnar; great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Camryn and Luke Wojnar and many nieces and nephews. Our family is blessed to have shared with her many beautiful Polish traditions and customs that will be treasured for generations. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Walter and Stephen and her sisters, Jay Petrow, Helen Bolek and Agnes Houle. Services will be private and there are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated and announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Sophie’s memory, donations can be made to the National Shrine of Divine Mercy at www.thedivinemercy.org/donation or to the American Red Cross, Regional Office, 209 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, CT 06032.
