Steven P. Rosenblatt 1950 - 2020 Prospect, CT Steven P. Rosenblatt, 70, of Prospect, CT, died Saturday, August 1, 2020 at his home with his wife, Susan, by his side. Steve was born in Waterbury, CT a son of the late Bill and Lil Rosenblatt of Naugatuck. Steve graduated from UCONN where he was a co-captain of the football team, and then with a masters degree from UCONN School of Social Work. He later returned to school and graduated from SCSU with a sixth year degree in school psychology. After graduating from UCONN, Steve became a School Social Worker in Naugatuck. Later, after working briefly at Newtown High School, he returned to Naugatuck as a School Psychologist. He retired after serving for 37 years. Steve loved football, and served many years as a coach, commissioner and treasurer for the Naugatuck Junior Football League. He also coached freshman football while working at Newtown High School. He enjoyed 20 years as a football official for the Western Connecticut Football Officials Association and he was proud to have been inducted into the Naugatuck Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed playing golf with good friends. Steve was a board member and past chairman of the Human Resource Development Agency of Naugatuck and of Naugatuck Youth Services. He was a member and chairman of the Budget and Admissions Committee of United Way of Naugatuck. He served on the Professional Advisory Committee of the Naugatuck Visiting Nurses Association. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Steve will be remembered for his kindness, humor and his generosity as a friend, brother, uncle and loving husband. Steve is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan; his brother Howie Rosenblatt and his wife, Julie of Naugatuck; his sister, Sari Rosenblatt and her husband, Steve Machuga of Middletown; Susan’s sister, Bonnie Stone and her husband, Tom of Old Saybrook and his mother in law, Jean Carlson of Woodstock, CT. He loved his four nieces, Jenn (Josh) Gampel, Kim (Ben) Giddens, Nora Machuga and Anne Machuga. Steve’s family are so appreciative for the excellent care he received from Dr. Ralph Tremaglio of Naugatuck and Cardiologist, Dr. Paul Kelly of Waterbury. There are no services or calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Donations to honor Steve’s memory can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 863765, Orlando, FL 32886 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
