Thomas R. Milton Owned Tom's Carpet Service PROSPECT — Mr. Thomas Robert Milton, age 63, of 100 Cheshire Road, died Friday, March 25, 2011, at his home after a long illness. Mr. Milton was born in Waterbury on March 18, 1948, son of Robert A. Milton of Prospect and the late Bernice (Chatfield) Milton. He was self-employed as a flooring specialist and owner of Tom's Carpet Service for many years. He was an avid hunter and a member of the Prospect Gun Club, having served as a past president and vice president. He enjoyed cutting and splitting wood, woodcarving, spending time with his family and camping with friends in upstate New York and Vermont. In the 1980's, Mr. Milton spent a month living in the woods along with his friend, James Wilson, to raise money for the first bullet proof vests for the Prospect Police Department. Besides his father, Mr. Milton is survived by two daughters, Erica LaFrance and her husband, Matthew, of Cheshire, and Nicole Milton of Winsted; a son, Robert Milton of Wallingford; a sister, Susan Ostuno and her husband, Sonny, of Cheshire; and five grandchildren, Cadence, Shannon, Kyly, Arefin and Azra. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Prospect Firehouse. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery.
