William D. Fenton Our Dad, our Pop WATERBURY - William David Fenton (Wild Bill), age 78, a longtime resident of Waterbury, passed away on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at Wolcott View Manor from cancer. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris Miclette Fenton of Waterbury. He was born in Naugatuck on July 18, 1932, the loving son of David William Fenton and Anna Herb Fenton of Naugatuck. Bill was a decorated Korean War veteran and a member of the American Legion of Southington. In 1978, he retired from Uniroyal Inc. in Naugatuck with 25 years of service. In 1944, he retired from Bristol Babcock/Helicoid in Watertown with 14 years of service. He was a lover of all things Irish and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Waterbury. Bill was also a member of the Elks Club of Waterbury. He was a devoted Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Bill was also an avid gardener and enjoyed country and western dancing. He was a very loving and kind dad. He was our favorite dad. He enjoyed vacations, and he enjoyed listening to all kinds of music. His favorite pastime was taking a nap or smoking a cigarette. He is survived by three children, Linda Sporbert and her husband, Frank, of Waterbury, Steve Fenton and his wife, Laraine, of Milford and Sharon Lisi and her husband, Andy, of Waterbury; five grandchildren, Ryan Fenton of Norwalk, Sean Fenton of Milford, Mary Fenton of Milford, David Fenton and his wife, Michelle, of Wolcott and Michael Lisi of Waterbury; one great-grandchild, David Fenton of Wolcott; and three brothers, Robert Fenton of Naugatuck, James Fenton and his wife, Mary, of Naugatuck and John Fenton of Naugatuck. Bill is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and longtime friends. A military funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, to St. Francis Church for a Mass at 9 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 11, 33 Oak St., Watertown 06795.
