William Schmelcke

Naugatuck-William H. Schmelcke, Jr., 61, husband of Susan (Verceski) Schmelcke of 21 Cold Spring Circle died Monday morning at St. Mary's Hospital. Mr. Schmelcke was born December 24, 1948 in Waterbury son of Frances (Martin) Schmelcke of Naugatuck and the late William H. Schmelcke, Sr. He was a warehouse manager for the Jerry's Sports Center in Newington. He received his Associates Degree from Post College and was an avid fisherman and was also a roller hockey score keeper for years in the Waterbury and Glastonbury area. Besides his wife of Naugatuck he is survived by one son, Stephen Schmelcke and his wife Tina of Southington, five sisters, Linda Durbin and her husband Brian of TN, Dorothy Constantino and her husband Vincent of Watertown, Carolyn Raming of Prospect, Mary Commendatore and her husband Allan of Naugatuck and Brenda Schiaroli and her husband Joseph of Waterbury, several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 170 Coen Street, Naugatuck. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
