Wanda L. Clinkscale, 70, of New Britain, CT with her family by her side, went home to be with the Lord Saturday January 28, 2012 at the Hospital of Central Ct. @ New Britain General. She was the wife of the late Oscar Clinkscale, Jr. Wanda was born December 2, 1941 in Gifford, Florida, daughter of the late Peter Jackson and Thelma Jackson-Jones. She came to New Britain at the age of fifteen years old. She attended the New Britain Public School System. She retired from New Britain City Hall after twenty-two years of service in 2000. After retirement, Wanda volunteered at St. Matthew’s School as a lunch aid. She also worked at Lord and Taylor for ten years. She was a faithful member of Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church of New Britain, CT where she served as a devoted member of the Stewardess Board and a Class Leader. Wanda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. Wanda is survived by her two daughters, Joy (Martin) Jackson and Cheryl Clinkscale-Niccolls, both of New Britain, CT, her four sons, Stanley, Dextor, Windsor and Brent Clinkscale, all of Greenville, South Carolina, her three sisters, Agnes Johnson, Deloris Miller and Debra (Rick) Hester all of Florida, her four brothers, Ferris Jackson, Marvin Jones, John Jones all of New Britain, CT and Peter Jackson of Vero Beach, Fla., her three grandchildren, Bernard, Basil Jr, and Marzell, her seven step grandchildren, her godson, Scott Andrews of Washington, DC, her devoted friend Irma Mendes of Houston, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Wanda was predeceased by her sister Sylvia. The Clinkscale family extends a note of thanks to oncologist Dr. Langstan and lung specialist Dr. Ainees of Grove Hill Medical Center, New Britain Homegoing Celebration for Wanda will be held Thursday February 2, 2012 at noon at Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church, 25 Crestwood Lane, New Britain, Ct. with the Rev. Mark J. Roderick, Sr., Pastor, Presiding. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fariview Cemetery, 120 Smalley Street, New Britain, Ct. Relatives and friends may call at Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church, Thursday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Flowers will be accepted at the church, Thursday from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. Service of comfort provided by the Paul A.
