THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF CARMELA D'AMICO. “BORN IN BENEFRO ITALY” WATERBURY- Carmela D’Amico, age 71, of Waterbury CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19th 2020 at Waterbury Hospital due to complications from the COVID-19 Virus and a long courageous battle with breast cancer. She was the beloved wife of Antonio D’Amico Carmela was born April 18th 1949 in Bonefro, Italy, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Santa (Porazzo) Massarelli. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1969, settling in the Waterbury area. Carmela was a loving and dedicated home maker, mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother who lived life for her family and enjoyed each and every day. She was always happiest surrounded by her family and her love for them was matched in return by their devotion to her. Carmela also enjoyed gardening and was a talented cook and was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of Saint Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville. Left to remember, cherish and honor Carmela’s love and legacy besides her husband of 55 years are her sons, Vincenzo D’Amico and his wife, Michelle of Prospect, Antonino D’Amico Jr. and his wife, Adrianna of Wolcott, her daughters; Giovanna “Gigi” D’Amico and her longtime boyfriend, Mike Cavallo of Waterbury, and Sandy Miller and her husband, Richard of Louisiana. She also leaves her siblings, Tony and Joseppi Masarelli and Angelina Durante all of Italy. Carmela and Antonio were blessed with 8 adoring grandchildren; Michelle, Michael, Marisa, Avery, Dylan, Nicole, Stephanie, and Andrew as well as her great grandchildren, Vinny and Grace. Due to the current governmental restrictions concerning COVID 19, funeral services for Mrs. D’Amico will be limited to a graveside interment conducted by the Rev. Michael Santiago on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt Olivet Cemetery Watertown, Mausoleum. Those planning to attend are invited to participate from the privacy of their own vehicles There are no callings hours however a Mass of Christian Burial will be announced at a later date. The O’Neill Funeral Home has been honored to care for the D’Amico family. Please keep Carmella and her entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
