Harry Tomasek

Harry Francis Tomasek, 82, of Tolland, Connecticut, beloved husband of 62 years to Delphine (Willis) Tomasek, peacefully passed away on November 2, 2012. Harry was born in Ellington in 1930, grew up in Vernon and lived in Tolland for 62 years. Retired from the Connecticut State Police, he served as Resident Trooper of Tolland for 15 years, ending his 30-year career with 6 years as Governor O’Neil’s special detail bodyguard. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, spending most of his retirement days at “the farm” in Union, CT. He was an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Rockville, a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, member of the Italian American Friendship Club in Tolland, member of the Italian Benefit Society in Stafford, former member of the Kosciusko Club in Rockville, member of the Connecticut State Police Union and Police Association of Connecticut. He regularly played cards in several social clubs and with his family; and he so enjoyed you all. Harry was predeceased by his infant daughter Mary Del, his parents, Joseph and Annie Tomasek, and his brothers Robert, William and Joe. Besides his beloved wife Del, he leaves his four loving children: Debra Tomasek and husband Kerry Clock, Randi Flamino and husband Doug, William Tomasek and wife Kathy, and Todd Tomasek. Harry is also survived by his brother Frank Tomasek. Harry was proud of his six grandchildren: Aaron Flamino and wife Linda, Yolanda Flamino, Elizabeth Langley and husband Scott, Sarah Clock and husband Jon Rekedal, Lance Flamino and wife Ashley, and Annie Tomasek Clock. His six great grandchildren Hannah, Kendall, Grace, Caleb, Callan and Leah brought him much joy. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was a humble and dignified man who touched and changed the lives of countless children and adults through the years, including special friends Dick Pond, Mike Swatick, Toby Ludwig, Frank Spalding, Walter Bradway, and Diane Annunziata. Friends and family may gather for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard’s Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville, on Saturday Nov 10, 2012 at 10 AM. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Harry requested, in lieu of flowers, that you please perform an anonymous act of kindness in his memory. .
