Josephine Meyer

Josephine (Napoli) Meyer, 86, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother entered into eternal rest on September 30, 2014 at Woodlake at Tolland Nursing Home. Josie was born 2/16/28 in Tampa, FL, the daughter of the late Frank & Ersilia Napoli. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Albert B. Meyer in 1992. A Communicant of Sacred Heart Parish since 1960, Josie was an active member of the Women’s Club for many years and chaired the annual church fashion show as well as teaching CCD. A great lover of animals, she had many pets over the years. She enjoyed teaching her parakeets to speak and cherished the companionship of her beloved dogs. She leaves behind daughter Frances Marena and husband Ted of Vernon, son John Meyer and wife Deborah of Ellington, son James Meyer and wife Heather of Manchester; her grandchildren, Jason Karkevich and wife Nicole, John Meyer Jr. and wife Katie, Brian Meyer, Samantha, Alex and Sophia Meyer; her great grandchildren Taylor and Ryan Karkevich and Gabriel Meyer ; sister-in-law Genevieve Roy and her husband Robert, her nephews and nieces Robert Roy and his wife Karen, Gary Roy and his wife Marianne, and Carol Meyer. Funeral Service will be at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home , 75 Prospect St, Vernon/Rockville CT. Calling hours are Friday, October 3, 2014, 9am – 10am, immediately followed by Catholic Funeral Rite. Burial to follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville, CT. The family of Josephine Meyer expresses their sincere appreciation and thanks to the nurses and staff at Woodlake at Tolland Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make a memorial gift in Josie’s name to the Allan A.
